Slowcoast

Today’s entry is a website that is worth some perusing if you have some spare time.  Slowcoast.  It’s a number of things, all interesting.  Basically, the author, Nick Hand, documents his rides around Britain and Ireland, mostly following the coast.  It contains interactive maps of the UK and beyond, which, when you click on a certain place, gives you films – kind of eccentric mini-documentaries – that he created when visiting that particular location.  He focuses his attention on small, local artisans doing interesting things and basically being the opposite of corporate shopping – mall Britain.  It’s masterful cross between documentary making and a cycle touring blog, this reveals parts of the country in totally new ways.
