pop a woody!!
The current time of year makes one focus on mudguards. i have a pair of sks raceblades on my orbea road bike, and in this weather i couldn’t do without them.
But there are almost no limits to the niche products available to those with a desire to stand out from the crowd, and arguably those who have more money than sense burning a hole in their rapha tights. so i was interested when alerted by my hawk-eyed cycling buddy mark to woody’s fenders, a small company stateside which manufactures wooden mudguards. Yes, wooden mudguards. You can get them in various hardwoods, with inlaid marquetry as an option. check out their gallery here – i must admit they do look very nice, but at $20o odd a pair, i shan’t be heading out to kit my bikes out just yet…….Whatever next? Wheels made from hollowed-out carrots???
